The Hiding Place

I did it! I read the first book on my "to read" list and it was fantastic. I felt that Corrie TenBoom shared her heart and soul in her autobiography The Hiding Place. A true Christian woman raised in a wonderful home, TenBoom was faced as a middle-aged woman with the monster of Communism. Although not Jewish herself, she and her family sacrificed to save lives, depite the consequences. She is eventually captured then imprisioned in some of the most terrifying concentration camps of the time. Through it all, TenBoom learned many important lessons about right and wrong and how to find joy and comfort in Christ through her suffering. In the end, she found that the Lord had placed her there in order to help the war torn people and lift their spirits from the deep agony they all faced. Her courage and strength has inspired me to refrain from complaint when life gets a little difficult and to ask the Lord in my difficulties what He needs me to do for others. It was a great read! Just read it...
